On March 29th 2008, Rob (my fiancé) and I attended the 22nd Annual Genesis Awards presented by the Humane Society of the United States.  This event was not only fun but it was for a great cause.  Every year, the Humane Society puts on this event to honor those in the media that have raised awareness about animal issues.  Our dinner served was vegan and very delicious!  Participating in something like this not only cultivated a deeper interest in animal issues for me, but also informed me of things that I didn’t even know were going on, like fake fur actually being taken from dogs and cats by famous designers.  That’s pretty sick and needless.  Nothing glamorous about hurting innocent animals.  Since the event, I’ve been keeping up with the Humane Society and the issues we are dealing with, doing what I can, when I can.  Even if you feel you can’t do much, think again.  Every little bit helps.  Check out everyone’s collaborative efforts with this link: www.hsus.org and you can even check up on this year’s 23rd annual Genesis Awards, which takes place on March 28th.  What an inspiration!
