Hydrating, beneficial and DELICIOUS!

My favorite season?  Definitely summer.  Sunshine, warm weather, warm winds, warm rains to stand out in during the morning time….which is one of my secrets I bet no one knows about me……I love warm summer rain, just standing outside barefoot and getting drenched.  It’s so refreshing, revitalizing, and uplifting; it makes me feel so fundamentally connected with nature.  These conditions make the perfect environment for harvesting berries!  Summer rolls around and we’re showered with fresh  strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries and cherries!  I know cherries aren’t berries, but they come in season around now as well and are my absolute favorite! Of course I always strive for organic, but even the non-organic ones can still be helpful.

The benefits of my summer favorites goes beyond taste and refreshment!  Berries are refreshing, revitalizing and uplifting, just like the summer rain itself.

Cherries are awesome for arthritis, help the liver, and benefit the lymphatic system by helping to eliminate toxins (which makes sense considering spring is a season for dumping winter junk in your cells).

Strawberries abound with Vitamin C, fiber, fight cancer and protect DNA.

Blueberries are good fiber too, but also rejuvenate the pancreas making this fruit beneficial to those with hypoglycemia.  These tiny blue berries burst with manganese as well, that’s needed for the bones and even inner ear balance and/or ringing in the ears (tinnitus).

Raspberries support the kidneys and are great for the colon and diarrhea; be sure to chew well!

Blackberries are great for the blood and inflammation of the small intestine (might be known as enteritis).  Plus these yummy treats are an excellent source of fiber as well!

Isn’t it great when food tastes great and it’s good for you?  Sounds like a win-win situation for me….bring on summer!  Bring on the berries!
